Celebrating One Year of Buns of Joy: A Reflection on Our Journey

One year ago, I took a leap of faith and combined my passions into a business that I hoped would bring a little more kindness, connection, and, of course, cinnamon bun deliciousness into the world.

On the 1st of March 2025 we celebrated one year of Buns of Joy, and I can’t help but feel overwhelmed with gratitude for everyone who has been part of this journey.

When I first started Buns of Joy, my vision was simple: to create thoughtful, feel-good gifts that would brighten someone’s day and remind them that they’re loved and appreciated. Little did I know how much joy this little idea would bring, not just to others but to me as well.

Milestones and Achievements

Over the past year, we’ve had some truly incredible moments that I’ll never forget. One of the biggest highlights was becoming a Co on Holly & Co, joining an inspiring community that champions creativity and small businesses. Being recognised as part of that space was a huge moment for me personally and for the Buns of Joy journey.

We also had the absolute pleasure of partnering with Scamp and Dude on a brand collaboration that felt like such a natural fit. Both of our brands are rooted in spreading joy and empowering women, and it was amazing to come together to create a Limited Edition bun which was truly special.

Community has always been at the heart of Buns of Joy, and over the past year, we’ve been lucky enough to get involved in so many wonderful events. From meeting incredible women at The Mum Club, Tired Mums Society, Lonely Girls Club and Pizzup to setting up shop at various pop-up events, each experience has been a reminder of why we do what we do. The energy, stories, and support we’ve encountered at these events have been truly uplifting.

We’re also incredibly proud to be part of Buy Women Built, a collective of women-led businesses that support and champion each other. Being part of this movement reminds us why it’s so important to build each other up and stand together. If you can do anything in 2025 and beyond, it’s buy from female founded and owned brands.

Our Mission to Empower and Support Women

At Buns of Joy, our mission has always been about more than just cinnamon buns. It’s about creating connections and uplifting women through thoughtful gifting nationwide. Whether it’s sending a box of buns to a friend going through a tough time or celebrating a milestone, we believe in the power of small acts of kindness.

It’s also been heart-warming to hear stories from customers who have used our buns as a way to support loved ones or themselves. One customer shared how receiving a Buns of Joy gift box during a difficult week reminded her that she wasn’t alone, and it’s stories like these that make it worthwhile.

The Ups and Downs of the Journey

Of course, running a new e-commerce business hasn’t been without its challenges. From getting freshly baked buns into the post, to the never-ending quest to master social media algorithms & spreading the word, there have been moments where I’ve questioned my sanity! But each challenge has taught me something valuable, about resilience, resourcefulness, and the incredible power of community.

Starting from scratch hasn’t been easy, but I’ve learned that it’s okay to ask for help and lean on those around me. And every time I see a message from someone who has enjoyed our buns or a photo of one of our boxes brightening someone’s day, it makes every hurdle feel worth it.

Looking Ahead with Gratitude

None of this would have been possible without you, our amazing community, loyal customers, family, and friends who have supported Buns of Joy from the very beginning. Thank you for believing in this little dream of mine and for allowing me to share it with you.

As we move into our second year, I’m filled with excitement for what’s to come. We’ve got new ideas brewing, more collaborations on the horizon, and plenty of buns to bake. Here’s to many more years of spreading joy, one cinnamon bun (or top secret new flavour👀) at a time.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being part of this journey. I can’t wait to see where it takes us next!

Love Leah xx
